random knowledge

Pineal gland, referred as the teesri aankh in mythology is actually a gland between our eye brows that regulate our ageing process, beside some other crucial coordination functions. It's mostly called the 'nocturnal gland' as it activates when we sleep or when we are in dark ...theres a hormone it regulates called melatonin...this hormone helps us sleep...and keeps us young. As we age...melatonin secretion gets lesser and we r bogged down by insomnia. Many say that sadhus living in caves lived a long life....because they came out in the light only briefly, for surya namaskar... they activated their pineal gland just enough to lead a normal wakeful day. Surya namaskar was like giving morning tea to the pineal gland, keeping it up and about but not making it over-function . The more light, this gland is exposed to...faster it makes our heart run. More heartbeats we exhaust, emptier gets reservoir of fixed heartbeats that we all have. Breathing as per ayurveda, should be like a swan...slow and steady...;not like a snake, fast and erratic. When talking of light, summers are time of light galore. Heart beats faster, an individual sleeps less and feels more drained out. Having spoken about seasons, lets also touch planets, not literally though. Taking duration of time unit into consideration( which is smaller on planets near sun and this uration increases thereon) a worth noting fact is, that as we get away from the high-light source(sun)....length of time stretches itself and longivity of anything that has a begin and an end.
People who streamline their lives, dont live forever but however long they live, its a healthy stay out here.

Revival of old interest:

It was 2002 or 03, i dont remember, each year has been a xerox of the previous year....hence cant tell a difference. So it was either of these two years, when i came across a beautiful concept(not for the first time), an extention of quantum physics....it was called ' happy pocket full of money' by david cameron. It was n e-book and i have deleted it(accidently). One of those rare things i regret doing.
However I found exerpts of it, here they are:

"What is your body made of? Tissues and organs. What are tissues and organs made of? Cells. What are cells made of? Molecules. What are molecules made of? Atoms. What are atoms made of? Sub- atomic particles. What are subatomic particles made of? Energy? No. They are not made of energy; they are energy. You are one big "chunk" of energy. And so is everything else.
Spirit and Mind puts together this energy into the physical shape you are used to seeing with your limited set of senses. If you go into a high-tech lab right now and ask them to let you see yourself under a powerful electron microscope and conduct other experiments on yourself, you will see that you are made up of a cluster of ever-changing energy in the form of electrons, neutrons, photons and so on. And so is your wallet, your spouse, your car, and everything else. Quantum physics tells us that it is the act of observing an object that causes it to be there where and how we observe it. An object does not exist independently of its observer!
So, as you can see, your observation, your attention to something, and your intention, literally creates that thing as a space-time event. This is scientific. What you see with your eyes and experience with your body is the physical world, which we shall call Body. Body is an effect, created by a cause. This cause is Thought. Body cannot create. It can only experience and be experienced ... that is its unique function. Thought cannot experience ... it can only make up, create and interpret. It needs a world of relativity (the physical world, Body) to experience itself. Spirit is All That Is, that which gives Life to Thought and Body. Body has no power to create, although it gives the illusion of power to do so. This illusion is the cause of much frustration"

feeling blue.....

People peek into other's lives by looking in their eyes...but i havent perfected the art of reading people's eye.Can conjure up only blurred outlines through eyes...people drop curtains through their eye-lids way too often....blinking ensures soul-privacy.
I have often known a great deal abt others, looking at their feet. I have seen my mum with cracks in her feet, most of the mums with either cracks in their feet....no matter however big is the ball of fire in my mind, however angry im ...when i look at women's feet , i m quitened, a big lump in my throat quietens me. M reminded of all the times she had been working in water, washing clothes, cleaning house and neglecting self upkeep, all the years she worked like this, day in and day out.
I have seen feet of elite people. I see feet of men and women travelling in local trains, I saw lovely feet of my father, i thought more than his conventionally good-looking face, his feet were king-like. Its a metaphor, i havent met any king in my present life.
In month of May and June, I have seen old men pulling carts and sometimes they dont have slippers on and though I am no Buddha, I can imagine at that moment why sight of sickness, poverty, death triggered thoughts of virakti in him.
My nephew,8 months old.... usually a chirpy boy, sat at one place for longer while last night...his eyelids were heavier than usual and nose watering....i couldnt help looking at his feet...they were small, dry and cold. i folded his feet in my palms for a long time...but i knew then, he would fall sick. He is sick today. felt dark all day.Thats perhaps his first big sickness.

No magic formula to balance

9/11. Big deal.yeah? Ofcourse. Ok, is it because it happened to THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Uh, No. It is because it happened to United states of America too. Hmmmm...must say that is also because it was the most spectacular terrorist attacks in the history of modern history. people were hooked to the TV sets, not that they arent hooked to it otherwise....but u know they werent switching channels all that often. The otherwise invincible Americans let the terrorists board flights dat day and then ofcourse mohammad atta and others did what they had missioned and been commissioned to do. Therafter Americans learnt their lesson, they started doing funny n crazy things in name of security check with world citizens visiting their country . Anyways, talking of 9/11 again, I was just shocked at this incident but more pained when Graham Stains with sons aged 8 and 10 were burnt alive in Orissa. Act of terrorism again. Root cause of terrorism is...insecurity. Root of insecurity ...not feeling accepted and not getting attention. So the remedy of terrorism is not 'lets give them back in the face and drop bombs and flatten their world'...it is 'ok, what u did was wrong, now lets sit together and work out solutions'. Give neglected and angry group, the attention they miss....Whereas what bosses of the world are doing is like giving third degree to people who feel cornered and make noise therefore.
Perhaps this cure may also fall flat on its face, but if we have given 'massive retort' so much time, lets give peace a fair chance.

I wont defend my religion....

Religion will defend itself. Religions are disciplines, more or less having similar aims, a stream-lined life, peaceful existence, getting one with god. I often see it as a specialization we do in various disciplines at undergratuation, grauduation and post-graduation levels, to basically be able to self-support ourselves and enjoy what we are doing. I havent seen anyone screaming blue murders at each other because s/he opted for a particular subject and somebody else opted for some other subject. There's tremendous latitude and acceptance and even recognition for each other's stream of work. What's so wrong with religions that make many people on this planet spend vital chunk of their energies in proving supremacy of their own disciplines that they know as religions? A point of view is that there's element faith in religion that's perhaps absent in professional streams, though personally i just dont believe, i know...that faith's there in professional streams as well, however concentration levels differ,n lets thank god for that. Faith has never been so blinding. I have faiths, some casual, some serious, some very personal, some not so personal, infact each one of us have their own way to work out ' required to prove' and 'hence proved' of life and nobody seems to bothering abt how we solve our life-equations. So the rock bottom-line is if none of us have problems with each other's professions, with each other's faiths( faith isnt copyright of religions)...is it the reverse power of a group in case of religion, that's delimiting ?...its a possibility. Some dominating less evolved members of a group channelise their assertiveness in something as irresponsible as indulgence in 'my religion is the best' game. Lets face it, that the only option available is to accept that religions have a shelf-life, n we all know that the individual's compatibility and adjustablity with changing face of their religions is a very-very personal affair. I mean, it would be ridiculous if u break into people's washrooms and give them pointers abt how they should keep themselves clean. We all know our hygine lessons well, if we dont...we'll lean them, easy or hard way.

zzzzz!

whoa! completely morphened. eyelids are heavy-metals. lets blame the equinox time....liking the sun pouring in through the window. sun is quite a teaser, a dominating class monitor.

Desirable silence.

no sounds in mind...no observation...njoying the usual nothing-ness of life. no growls, no prowls. flying so high, i can hear heaven.
